The Horse Board supplied significant leadership and a $7,500 educational grant to the Focus ‘96 conference held in Richmond during January. Focus ‘96 brought nationally recognized experts in equine exercise physiology, lameness, conformation and selection, and horse industry business to Virginia.
On-going support of collection and analysis of population numbers and economic activity data along with the support of educational programs will soon be joined by efforts to promote and more effectively market the Virginia horse and the state’s horse industry. Providing a new funding resource for basic research and the development of a horse industry directory are being added to the profile of the Virginia Horse Board.
Members were appointed by Governor Allen and represent the diversity of the horse world.
