Fauquier Habitat for Humanity began building homes in ,1992 and is currently finishing their ninth home for area families in need. The group hopes to finish four homes in 1996, including a home to be built by the group’s Rappahannock branch which was formed in late 1994. Habitat’s mission is to eliminate poverty housing and make decent affordable shelter a matter of conscience. By building partnerships between families in need and the resources in our local communities, Habitat can provide affordable homes to families who invest their own “sweat equity” and pay a low cost, no interest mortgage for their Habitat home.
