The American Lung Association of Virginia wants to help those with asthma and allergies to breathe easier with these quick tips:
• Learn what you asthma triggers are, and how to avoid them.
• Monitor pollen counts through radio, television and newspapers, and stay indoors if possible when the count is high.
• Keep windows closed to avoid outside pollen from getting in.
• To prevention pollen irritation, avoid touching your nose and eyes.
• Wash bed linens regularly in hot water.
• Remove carpets from bedrooms or vacuum frequently.
• Plan outdoor activities in the afternoon. (Pollen counts are usually higher in the morning.)
