Jeb and Champ, he served as military advisor to the California National Guard.
After 20 years of service, He retired and moved his family to Rappahannock County. A gifted horseman, he hunted with the Rappahannock Hunt and raised hunters. He served as chairman of the Rappahannock Electoral Board and Was active in county politics.
When his children were grown, he and Tiny decided to embark on a new life, leaving Rappahannock for the Caribbean and life aboard their sloop “The Saucy Jack”, sailing between Puerto Rico and St. Croix in the Virgin Islands.
In 1995, Jack and Tiny moved to Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach where they finally settled in after their last of 27 moves. He is survived by his wife, three sons and six grandsons.
Graveside services with military honors will be performed at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 29 at the Culpeper National Cemetery, the Rev. Jennings Hobson of Trinity Episcopal Church presiding.
Family and friends will assemble at Culpeper National Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, March 29.
