Creek, Bryce, Wintergreen, Winter Place and Canadian Timberline. In the Derby she competed in three events: The Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super G.
The top five girls in each region go on to compete in the Junior Olympics, which will be held March 13-16, at Sunday River, Maine. She will again compete in all three events. One person from that level will go on to compete with the older level kids in their Junior Olympics.
“I’m very excited,” Meghan said. “I think at worst I’ll finish in the middle, but I would like to go on with my skiing, maybe to the Olympics if I can — who knows?”
Meghan’s father Dennis said, “I’m very pleased. It’s quite an accomplishment. I have always supported their interests.”
“I got a very late start (with skiing) and loved it,” he said. “So, I started them out very young so they’d have a better shot. You can make a living in the ski industry and it’s a great recreational sport they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.”
Meghan began skiing at age two. Her dad taught her how, showed her the fundamentals, as her did for her brother.
‘They need to forget that stuff,” he said with a laugh, “it’s holding them back.”
Both Meghan and Michael went to Wakefield School, before the split occurred, and took part in the ski program at the school.
