I’m as elated with the first crocus as the next person. A bright yellow flower at the Flint Hill Post Office gave me great pleasure. It was as if the sun had been caught in one flower. The crocus originated in the mountains of Italy and Greece. The original home of the daffodil is western Europe, Sweden, England and Spain. Another imported harbinger of spring, the tulip, came from Russia though it was the Dutch who introduced it to the world.
