Three new jailers have been hired by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office this year.
All three deputies have roots in this county, said Sheriff Gary Settle. . Steven Gary Scott grew up in Castleton and still lives there. Sheriff Settle said that Dep. Scott had applied for the position several times in the past, and re-applied when Sheriff Settle took office. He told the sheriff that he had always wanted to work in the Sheriff’s Office. He previously worked as a salesman for a company in Culpeper.
Mark Currence is a Rappahannock native and graduate of RCHS. His dad, Charlie Currence, worked with the former Aileen plant in Flint Hill. Sheriff Settle said that Mark has always been interested in law enforcement and has completed a two-year degree at Lord Fairfax Community College.
