The library received a gift of money management software for the staff room computer from County. Attorney Peter Luke. •
Mr. Shaffer also reported that the library’s book vendor, Baker and' Taylor, is being sued by the Justice Department for allegedly overcharging schools and libraries from the ‘80s' to 1994. However, there is no indica-’ tion that Rappahannock Library was overcharged.
In addition he reported that they are on track for getting subject head-' ings entered into the computer.
The board approved a motion to commend Mr. Shaffer and the library ‘ volunteers for the excellent job they * did during December and January,when they were short staffed.
In the treasurer’s report Helen' Platt informed the board that the library had received a gift of $4500 from Mr. Gordon. His estate left funds to Rappahannock County Library and the libraries at the University of Virginia and Harvard.
This gift is a second endowment. The first was given in 1986 when Mr. Gordon died and was for $10,000.
The next meeting of the Library Board will be March 27 at 10 a.m.
