SPERRYVILLE — Two sisters, three Connemaras, and four Warrenton Hunt members took the top two placings in the competitive adult optimum time division. ... Oops, that was last week’s story. But substitute “Rappahannock” for “Casanova” — the same horse and rider pairs repeated their placings in first, second and third in adult optimum, fast and hilltopper divisions.
Polly Cutting, riding her sister Alice Laimbeer’s gray Connemara Alladin’s Alaska, teamed with Cindy Tufts on the buckskin Conhemara McFinn, and made it two for two with a win at Rappahannock Sunday. Casanova second-placed finishers Laimbeer, on bay Connemara Felton Lea’s Larkspur, with Amy Krenytzky of Hume on Buttermilk Biscuit, were also second at Rappahannock.
Coincidentally, Janet O’Keefe and Jennifer Bly were third at Rappahannock as well as at Casanova; and the winners of the hilltoppers’ pace, Dana Thompson and Mary Susan Coleman, also won Rappahannock’s first-ever hilltopper event. Rappahannock’s Joe Kincheloe and Michael Brown secured another win in the fast time division on Garth Of Birmingham and Finish N Style.
