He also said the park is looking into the issue of prescribed bums but is not ready to do anything yet. He reported that the Jenkins Gap trail has been relocated and volunteers are helping clean up.
McMurry also advised the Board that there is no new information on the double homicide which occurred in the park or on the skeletal remains which were recently found there. He said as soon as they had something to report they would do so.
Dr. David Gangel, superintendent of schools in Rappahannock County, reported to the Board on the Standards of Accreditation for Schools the first draft of which has been received. He presented a copy to the Board and said he applauded the plan and there is nothing negative about them. The school system will work to implement them within the next two years, he said. The new standards will go through the public hearing process but he expects very little change.
