He was raised in Sperryville and returned to Brooklyn where he married Lucy Estelle Curtis.
From this union three children were bom, Patricia Yvonne, Cecilia Virginia and Wardell Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lucy Grigsby; a daughter, Patricia Grigsby; a son, Wardell Grigsby and a grandson, Randell Gonzalez.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Cecilia Gonzalez and son-in-law, Esteban Gonzalez Jr. of Smyrna, Dela.; a foster son, Jesse Lofton and his wife, Juanita of Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren; a foster granddaughter, a special friend Mildred Jones of Dover and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Route 8. Interment will be in Lawn Cemetery, Hicksville, Long Island.
