Settle anticipates sending him to civil process and court security school, which lasts one week. Civil process includes serving warrants and subpoenas in the county.
The jailers will all go through six weeks of training at the Rappahannock regional academy in Fredericksburg, probably beginning in May. Sheriff Settle said they’ll probably train all the jailers to be able to do court security and send them to dispatching school.
In working for the Sheriff’s Office, said Sheriff Settle, they stress professionalism, presenting the department and themselves in a professional manner. He believes that being professional is something that needs to be worked on on a daily basis.
