Speaking before the Board of Supervisors at their June meeting, Jeff Light of Woodville asked that the Supervisors support grass-roots efforts to develop an inventory of historic resources in the County. The survey promoted by Mr. Light and “interested groups of citizens” would engage the Virginia Department of Historic Resources in their cooperative cost-sharing program to identify and document Rappahannock’s cultural resources.
The results of this inventory could be used in the process of registering candidate properties, districts and rural areas for the Virginia or the National Register of Historic Places and to develop a package of information or a book on Rappahannock's historic resources.
