On Saturday, June 2 the representatives of Rappahannock County High School track athletes, Ryisha Cook and Phillip Thomas, traveled to University of Virginia for the State Track Meet. One hundred and twenty nine Class A schools from all across the state were represented at this meet - were there and represented with athletes, student supporters, family members, and fans. Against this backdrop of track and field excitement, young Cook now faced state competition. She took third in the 200m with a time of 26.16 seconds, fourth in the 100m with a time of 12.73 seconds, and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16 5 t> " a personal best. All of these wins qualified her for a place on the All State Track Team.
Junior, Phillip Thomas, ran in the 800m which was two laps around the track. He ran an exciting and strategic rape. He ran the first lap as planned with his coaches, Mr. Allen Comer and Ms. Ann Spieker. Down the backstretch of the last lap he raced into the wind which affected his time.
