McCarthy receives
more acclamation
Rappahannock News’ Citizen of the Year for 2000, County Administrator John McCarthy, received more praise from the County, this time in the form of a plaque presented by Supervisor Bob Anderson on behalf of the Board of Supervisors.
The plaque is inscribed, “In recognition of his fifteen years of loyal and dedicated service to the citizens of Rappahannock County ...”

In his “About Our Schools” report, Superintendent Dr. David Gangel said that the school system had worked this year to improve the athletic program, and one measure of success is the Girls Softball Team.
Dr. Gangel announced that the team is the Region B Champion, and that it will play the first game of the State Championship Quarterfinals at home on the new ballfields on Tuesday, June 5 at 5:30 p.m. If successful, the team will play in the semifinals on Friday, June 8, at a location to be announced. It will not be possible to announce the results of Tuesday’s game in this week’s Rappahannock News, but next week’s edition will have full coverage of the event.

Charlie Tompkins of RAAC appeared before the Board of Supervisors to request that they again support this year’s celebration by providing funding so that local residents can avoid parking fees.
