The petition asks residents to take a stand against an ordinance that does not exist, and has not even been formally presented by our County officials. Shouldn’t we fully understand the proposal and lighting technology before committing to a position for or against?
To assist county residents in this, AACA proposes a series of newsletters and presentations designed to make us all smarter on lighting, lighting management, and available technical solutions. These will be public events to which everyone is invited. The meeting’s goal is to give all residents a chance to review the proposed ordinance and engage in an exchange of views.
We encourage all Amissville residents to attend and personally inform themselves of the issues, and make their voices heard.
Our county faces a number of other serious challenges, including; development pressures, funding for public services, and maintaining our rural character. Perhaps the process we are undertaking on the lighting issue can offer a guide on how we can together address these.
