Foundation. A joint project of Ki Theatre’s Kid Pan Alley Project of Washington, VA and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, the CD features performances from some of Nashville’s top recording artists including Delbert McClinton, Amy Grant, Kix Brooks, Suzy Bogguss, the Nashville Bluegrass Band, and Raul Malo singing songs co-written with the children of Nashville.
The Kid Pan Alley-Nashville CD is the culmination of the Nashville Chamber Orchestra’s and Kid Pan Alley’s year long interactive Kid Pan Alley project in partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools. Created by acclaimed songwriter/teacher Paul Reisler, Pan Alley is a unique program that brings the process of writing, arranging and recording songs into the classroom. In the course of a year, nearly 40 songs were written with over 800 Nashville students. During these sessions the children, led by Paul Reisler and some of Nashville’s most renowned songwriters, created their own song with lyrics and music — originating with the concept of the song themselves. Songwriters returned to the classrooms with members of the NCO working with the students to create the songs’ instrumental arrangements. Each of the participating students received a “demo” of their song, while 18 of the songs were selected for further arranging and performance by the NCO and celebrity artists on the award winning Kid Pan AlleyNashville CD.
