Paying respect
SperryviUe had a bit of a traffic challenge on Wednesday morning. But in a good way. Friends and family had gathered to pay their respects at the service held for Carson Johnson who passed away on Monday. Johnson joins the ranks of other Rappahannock angels who leave behind a legacy of community service, good will and especially good heart. Known and loved by many, Johnson was instrumental in crafting the Sperryville sewer system and served on the SperryviUe Water and Sewer Authority until his death. He worked tirelessly on finding solutions to problems. Carson and his wife Aileen were familiar faces at the annual Sperfyville Firemen's carnival serving up grilled goodies. An avid trout fisherman, Carson knew and loved the pleasures of fishing and created several ponds around the Sperryville area for fish and wildfowl. Of course, he will be missed and remembered fondly. It's always like that for people who have garnered a reputation for liking and caring about people and finding no problem putting action together with their noble thoughts and feelings. Ijocal resident Martin Woodard put it very succinctly and sincerely. “In my mind, Carson Johnson was one of the finest people in Rappahannock county and the best neighbor one could wish for.”
