Shown here on the steps of the Rappahannock County Library are some of the children who arrived early for a “Llama Pajama Party” organized by the library as part of its Summer Reading Program.
The children met a real llama with silky soft hair and an easy disposition.
The llama who charmed the children— “Hercules”—is only 11 months old. He belongs to Gwen Hays and Clyde Humphreys at West Wind Farm in Castleton.
The young and very patient animal is a favorite “show” llama at events around the county and has been well trained to be people friendly.
