approved the project and commissioned Dorian to make the sign. It was installed last week at both entrances to Flint Hill.
Flint Hill architect Dwight Matthews, Dorian’s dad who was helping his son and others install tiie sign, proudly noted, “Not only did Dorian design and craft the sign, he also handled all the various transactions and government requirements—like checking with “Miss Utility” and getting permission from the county to put up the sign.” Quite a major undertaking and accomplishment for a high school student!
Arland Welch of the Ladies Auxiliary who helped push the idea to fruition, also praised the sign and the Boy Scouts who collaborated with Matthews. With great pride, she said, “It’s the prettiest village sign in Virginia, don’t you think.” i
