College (LFCC) recently signed a guaranteed admissions agreement with Longwood University, making it easier for LFCC graduates to smoothly transition to the four-year university located in Farmville, Va.
The agreement states that LFCC graduates who earn an associate in arts and sciences degree with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher will be guaranteed admission to Longwood University. This guaranteed admissions agreement adds to the articulation agreement that guarantees that LFCC graduates transferring to Longwood will have junior status, that all of their credits will transfer (although not all may apply toward their degree) and that all of their lower-division general education goals (except foreign language) will be met.
The agreement will go into effect beginning with students applying to Longwood for the spring 2006 semester. The application deadline for the spring semester is October 15.
Patricia P. Cormier, Longwood president, praised the quality of LFCC’s graduates and noted that “associate in arts and science degree holders have graduated from Longwood above the 80 percent rate with little to no change in their grade point averages.”
