Virginia’s lush rolling hills are home to some of the finest equine farms and distinguished vineyards in the world. It is no surprise then that exceptional polo teams and award-winning wines originate here.
Oasis Winery’s Tareq Salahi is an aficionado of both. As captain of the official United States Polo Association’s “Virginia is for Lovers” team, he travels throughout the world to promote the upcoming celebration of Jamestown’s 400th anniversary in 2007.
“Most people don’t even know the birthplace of the foundation of winemaking in America is here in Virginia,” said Salahi. By 1609, English settlers at Jamestown pressed native American grapes and produced their own wine.
