Two weeks ago, Franklin Hitt of Boston walked into the Rappahannock News to tell the story of a bad car accident, a frightened dog and a happy reunion that almost wasn’t. Now, Hitt himself is in critical condition in the trauma unit at Fairfax Inova Hospital, the victim of a severe auto accident. On Saturday, April 8, Hitt ran off the side of Route 522 in his truck, striking an embankment and a tree just a few miles from his home.
