Road just north of Little Washington. The factory had been contracted to manufacture arms for the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Apparently, a portion of the requested muskets were never delivered giving rise to a lawsuit that eventually became one of the first cases heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Pete was one of the great storytellers of the county’s past. We will all miss his dropping by to entertain us with another of his stories. Thankfully, we will also treasure the records of the events large and small that he documented in his journals. A fervent chronicler of the Rappahannock experience has departed, but his contributions to our collective memory will surely be timeless.
