Smithsonian Institution. Another great source of pride was a picture of Samuel Yates, the brother of his great-great grandmother, a member of Co. B, 6th VA Cavalry under Stonewall Jackson, who was killed in action at Cedarville, May 23, 1862 in the concluding action of the Battle of Front Royal. Pete was also quick to point out that Co. B, the primary unit in this Southern victory, was made up largely of Rappahannock boys, making this encounter one of the more notable distinctly county-related events of the entire Civil War.
