is still under investigation. According to School Superintendent Dr. Robert Chappell, the damage to the bus, which was outfitted with a lift for disabled students, was extensive. The bus, which was insured, will most likely be replaced, at a cost of around $60,000. In the meantime, an older bus that also has a lift has taken over the damaged bus’ route.
Lightning strike on bam
Members of the Washington, SperryVille, and Flint Hill Fire companies cooperated to successfully battle a Washington barn fire started by lightning on April 3. According to Ann Spieker of Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue, the lightning set the plywood and insulation inside the bam wall on fire. The bam had been converted into an apartment, but was luckily not in use at the time of the fire.
Sideswipe in Boston
On Friday, April 7, a horrific looking accident in Boston, VA luckily resulted in no injuries. The incident occurred when a small pickup was sideswiped by another car on 522. This incident is still under investigation.
