April is annually designated as Child Abuse Prevention month in the U.S., a title that was grimly emphasized in Rappahannock County last Friday when a Sperryville man was arrested for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
Samuel A. Marvin, 46, was arrested April 7 by Lt. Connie Smith of the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office for incidents of sexual assault on a sixyear-old girl. Marvin is charged with aggravated sexual battery to a victim under age 13 and taking indecent liberties with a minor, and is currently being held in the Rappahannock County jail.
Due to the extreme youth of the victim, the RCSO has been reluctant to release details of the incident, but it is known that Smith and Sheriff Larry Sherertz were tipped off to the suspected abuse by the Rappahannock
