BLINDS are also a very functional window treatment. They are adjustable both up and down and the slats can be opened, closed, or anything in between. Metal mini blinds are almost a thing of the past, although they can be useful in certain settings. Wood blinds or wood-like blinds with two or three inch s'sls can become an integral part of a decorating scheme whether they come painted or stained. They can add a surprising amount of “warmth” to the look of a room. Decorative tapes of special fabrics like twills and tapestries can be added vertically to each side and will add another element to the look. I’ve seen wood blinds work well in both contemporary and traditional settings. Matching the blind to the color of your woodwork often gives a good flow to your room.
Last, but certainly not least, one might consider SHUTTERS. Plantation shutters, very popular now, usually refer to the very wide vaned style, and colonial shutters feature those which have vanes of less than one inch.
