Tax Credits

In January 1999, the Virginia General Assembly enacted a tax credit for conservation easement donors that allows them to claim a credit against their Virginia State income tax liability of 50 percent of the value of the donated easement.

Landowners who donated conservation easements on or after January 1, 2002, can sell unused credits to other Virginia taxpayers. That could be you.
