An international show jumper and current high-jump record holder in Hong Kong, Lee is in a race of sorts right now, a race against time. This horse of her dreams is for sale, and she’s trying to raise syndicate funds to buy him. This is no childhood crush, Lee insists. The horse, currently preparing for competition in this month’s World Equestrian Games with his current Australian owner and rider, is the real deal. And Lee wants in.
“We’re halfway there,” she said in an interview Tuesday while she was in town fund raising. “The horse is already at the Olympic level, already competing at the level we need. He’s the right horse, at the right time.” The owners have agreed to a price. The horse passed a pre-vet check. All that’s standing between Lee and her Olympic dream is a final vet check following the WEG.
That, and a couple hundred thousand dollars.
