Emergency

communications update

According to County Administrator John McCarthy, the county continues to search for A viable location for an antennae that would allow the county to tap into Culpeper County’s emergency communication system. The county’s ideal location is a fire tower on Red Oak Mountain, but negotiations with the property owner have come to a halt. If the county is eventually able to tap into Culpeper’s system, Emergency first responders will have far greater communications options available. Already, some county employees are testing 800 MGHZ radios, which allow for a wider range of contact.
