Arts and Crafts Camp

Arts and Crafts Camp gives children the opportunity to spend a week working on unique projects with a professional artist and percussionist Janet Kerig . The location is the Pavilion at the Rappahannock County Park across from Little Washington. The emphasis is on creativity, fun, games and the great outdoors! The multi-media experience includes: tie dye, basket weaving, paper making from plants, watercolor painting, sketching, bead work, beeswax candle making, Cherokee plant prints on scarves, plant identification, natures walks and drumming! The goal of camp is for children to express themselves freely and to provide an atmosphere that nurtures the young artist, improve their hand skills and to give them' the techniques to improve their sense of color, form and materials. Hours are Monday thru Friday 9am to 3pm. Dates are: session 2 is Aug 7 to Aug 11, session 3 is Aug 14 to Aug 18, session 4 is Aug 21 to Aug 25 .The cost is $155 per session. second sibling $55 For registration call (540) 987-8670 or email artsandcraftscamp@yahoo.com. Janet Kerig has a BA from the University of Maryland, is an exhibiting fiber artist, percussionist, and a joyful teacher specializing in Earth basketry, natural dyeing and children’s folk arts. She has taught workshops at Mountain Laurel Montessori, Rappahannock Public Schools, Hearthstone School, Wakefield Country Day School,Sidwell Friends, Middle Street Gallery and the National Park Service at Glen Echo Park, Md.
