On the afternoon of Monday July 31, this gas truck from PM Transport, based in Richmond, VA, was delivering fuel to Mayhugh’s filling station in Amissville. The truck delivers the gas through a hose that is connected to the station’s underground tanks. On Monday, the gas that was supposed to be going into the tank at Mayhugh’s suddenly began overflowing and spilling out onto the ground. According to Lieutenant Mark Fletcher of the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, around 60 gallons of gas poured out of the tanker truck before the hose could be shut off. The driver of the PM Transport truck declined to be interviewed for this report. That much spilled fuel is a fire and environmental hazard, and fire companies from Amissville and Flint Hill responded.
