“At the time, I was trying to deal with him, so I agreed to let him have his way,” explained Hamilton, who was trying to purchase the land around the cemetery from Parker in 2004. The deal fell through, and Parker sold the land to Rodgers earlier this year, removing the cemetery from Hamilton’s family’s hands for the first time. At the time of the sale, Hamilton, who has chronic health problems, was told by his doctor that he couldn’t travel. According to Rodgers, Hamilton had nothing to do with the sale, and did not communicate with Rodgers until several weeks ago, when Hamilton began contacting him about the cemetery.
