Dixie Power Trio comes

to Old Shadowlawn

The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present the Dixie Power Trio on Saturday, August 12th at 7:30 p.m. for the ninth of ten Saturday evening outdoor performances in downtown Warrenton. All concerts will be held at the Old Shadowlawn at 70 Culpeper Street between Franklin and Lee streets, one block south of old Wan-en Green in downtown Warrenton. This evening’s performance is made possible with special thanks to the support of Fauquier Hospital.

Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids under 12; proceeds go to support Bluemont’s year round Artist-In-Education Program in area schools. The Dixie Power Trio will also participate in Bluemont’s Healthcare Outreach Program by performing for the residents of a local healthcare facility.

The Dixie Power Trio delights audiences across the country with their eclectic mix of New Orleans jazz, zydeco, Cajun and original compositions, and charms them with their zany wit. Neither a trio norpurely a Dixieland band, the Trio is comprised of Zack Smith on comet and accordion, Andy Kochenour on tuba, Wayne Wilkinson on guitar and Byron McWilliams on drums. The Washington Post praises the Trio’s "...class menagerie of tunes...from Lou Reed to Louis Armstrong, The Beatles to Led Zeppelin, Dr. John to The Neville Brothers. They call it Dixieland music for the 21st century, but it’s worth hearing now!" Their interpretation of classic times is equaled by the excellence of their original works.

Plan to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. A local community group will provide homemade refreshments as a fundraiser for its programs. Door prizes donated by local merchants will be awarded during the intermission. Pets, alcohol and smoking are prohibited at all Bluemont events. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held at the Taylor Middle School auditorium.
