This local project is part of a continuing effort of the state and federal emergency management agencies to survey structures in communities near high-risk areas to determine which structures have facilities for fallout radiation protection in the event people have to be relocated during an emergency, according to a press release from the Office of Emergency and Energy Services. At the same time, the team will be collecting data to indicate the extent to which the county is able to feed and house people under emergency conditions. Particular attention will be given hotels, motels, dormitories, barracks, hospitals, colleges, schools, churches, synagogues, offices, factories, warehouses, storage facilities, and commercial stores with special emphasis on food stores.
