Think basil, and we think Italian food — but don’t stop there. Think good health, too.

Basil is a leafy green and like all leafy greens, it’s chock full of healthful things like calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, potassium, magnesium and antioxidants.

Plus, basil has anti-inflammatory properties, so adding some to your diet can help if you have asthma, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel problems. And basil inhibits bacteria growth, so it’s being researched as a natural food preservative.

Pretty healthy stuff, this tasty basil.
