The ARB on Thursday rejected the Inn at Little Washington's application to erect a fence in front of a parking area on Main Street next to the Health Department.
“I personally see this as an interruption to the landscape,” Board Member Charlie Kevis said, explaining that a 6- to 7foot-tall fence would block the view of the mountains from that part of Main Street.
. The Inn’s Eddie Fletcher said the intention was to hide the cars from sight, but not to obscure the view.
ARB members asked Fletcher to consider using plantings to achieve that effect and approved another 200-foot section of fencing along the parking area’s south boundary, which runs perpendicular to Main Street.
ARB Chairman Patrick O’Connell, who is proprietor of the Inn, recused himself from that portion of the meeting.
