Spots Farm near Rmghkeepsie, N.Y. Owner Sandy Kistner keeps dozens of nurse mares, mostly Appaloosas, and several stallions (a Hanoverian and a Connemara) to breed them to if they are not returned pregnant (as most nurse ' mare contracts require).
