Washington resident Rosie Gordon has opened Buzzing Bees Preschool.
The Buzzing Bees Preschool curriculum helps children obtain the skills that are helpful upon entering kindergarten, like counting, reading, name writing, and - sensory and social skills. Rosie will he the lead teacher. Before moving, to Rappahannock, Rosie has worked as a preschool teacher for two years in Arizona. She is also First Aid and CPR certified.
The classroom is set up with focus areas that encourage exploration and decisionmaking. These include areas for dramatic play, art projects, building blocks, language arts (reading and writing), and toys for constructing. The number and complexity of the materials increase as the children’s skills increase. For example, the children will first work with recognizing their name with flash cards and then they will trace their name on paper. Parents will receive a monthly review of their child’s activities and development.
At this age, children will learn by touching, building and creating with a wide range of developmentally appropriate materials.
Buzzing Bees Preschool is now accepting applications for enrollment in its new Summer Preschool Program. The preschool is for children ages 3-5 and will be operating as a non-profit, home-based organization taking up to six children.
There will be an open house on Saturday, May 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include pizza, salad and fruit punch.
