May 18-20: Art in the foothills
A juried show and sale featuring 59 area artists working in a variety of media will be held in the Old Dance Hall in historic Bluemont, Va on May 18 to May 20. A welcoming reception will be held Saturday May 19, from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Live music will be performed by Butch Nielson, Drew Holland and Jerry Bresee during the reception. Friends of Bluemont, a non-profit preservation organization, is hosting this fourth annual exhibit. Walk over to the recently renovated Bluemont General Store. The Dance Hall is located at 33735 Snickersville Pike, Bluemont. Admission is free. May 19: “Images of America:
Rappahannock County”
Kathryn Lynch and Rappahannock’s Judy Tole will be in Warrenton at Borders bookstore on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Written under the auspices of the Rappahannock Historical Society, the book is a photographic history of Rappahannock County. Kathryn Lynch is an active volunteer in historic preservations throughout Virginia and was delighted to collaborate with members of the society for the compilation and editing of this valuable work. The authors hope this book will encourage residents to share their local photographs and lore with the historical society for future generations to enjoy; the book has increased the photographic archives of the Rappahannock Historical Society tenfold since publication and more are welcome.
