Her background wouldn’t necessarily have led you to believe she’d end up here, doing this. She grew up in New York City and lived in urban environments most of her life. She has worked most of her life as a radiologist and still occasionally does some of that work. But she spends most of her time and energy now on the farm and her business here.
She did have a grandfather who had a small farm in Putnam County in New York. She got to visit there frequently and grew to love helping with the gardening. As an adult she always made sure that wherever she lived she could have a garden. So she really has been in training for starting and running Country Gardens;
Of the 25 acres she has here, approximately five acres are used for cultivation of lavender and herbs. She’s got two horses so some of the acreage is used as pasture as well. And, her dog, Miranda, a very friendly, very boisterous 1-year-old Doberman needs lots of room to run.
