She said that the two of them usually saved some of their best material for anniversaries. Mrs. Malik also said that she was a “tea to taler” and never drank choosing to smoke marijuana instead.
Davette Leonard, a local artist near the Malik residence, testified that the couple was reclusive and cars rarely went towards their house. She said that Mr. Malik, a retired park service worker, volunteered his experience for projects within the local community and had the reputation for being an honest person. She admitted that she knew of the couple’s marijuana use and cultivation, but never shared in the activity.
