“To a certain extent it’s a way to test the waters,” McCarthy said, adding that Stevenson first contacted him more than a year ago to talk in general terms about the project.
Stevenson said he has talked to several contractors, who have told him that infrastructure for the project is adequate at the site.
McCarthy said the wastewater system in Sperryville is running at roughly 50 percent of its capacity to serve the some 200 residents in the village area. An additional 24 condos will not overburden the system, he said.
' “There’s no problem with the sewer capacity,” McCarthy said.
