“It was obviously a short in the well,” he said. “We couldn’t tell whether it was a wire or a pump motor, so we had to plan for both.”

The pump house provides water to Washington residents, and Jebson said the 225,000-gallon reservoir had only a few days of water left. He said he had no luck finding a temporary pump and ordered a new one that day. He said that the new pump would have arrived about a day after the reservoir ran out of water, and the longer he waited to place the order, the longer Washington residents might have been without water.

“I ordered the pump and motor to make sure I got that moving,” he said.

The next day Country Water Systems pulled the pump out of the ground and determined that only the pump wiring needed to be fixed, Jebson said. Country Water Systems made the repairs and the pump was up and running that day, he said, but the new pump had already
