Trucks Collide

Two trucks were involved in a collision on the mountain west of Sperryville on September 22. According to Trooper R. A. Baines. William Herbert Gainey of Mechanicsville, Md. was eastbound in a 1974 Chevrolet when he was struck by a 69 Ford truck. Operator of the Ford was Thomas McKinny of Burnsville, N. C. whose steering mechanism was defective. McKinny lost control of his truck on a curve and struck the other truck.

Baines estimated damage to Gainey’s truck at $500 and at $200 to McKinny, who was cited for defective equipment.
