Smoot In
Nato Exercise
Airman First Class Cecil F. Smoot, son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Smoot of Sperryville, is taking part in “Crested Cap '78.” a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) exercise conducted in Germany.
Airman Smoot is a weapons mechanic at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C., with the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing.
More than 800 personnel and 48 F-4 fighter aircraft were deployed from Seymour Johnson in support of this exercise which is aimed at enhancing our ability to rapidly reinforce NATO.
The airman is a 1976 graduate of Rappahannock County High School. His wife, Mary, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herndon C. Hudson of Washington.
Quaker Meeting
The Washington. Va. Worship Group and the Charlottesville Friends Meeting will sponsor a Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) meeting for worship Sunday. October 1, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the home of E. T. Williams, two and a half miles north of Haywood. Madison County, on the Etlan Road. Rt. 603. In case of rain, the meeting will be held Sunday, October 8.
