It looked for a while last Wednesday like the Rappahannock Planners were going to have to admit defeat and either call their meeting off or hold the regular session outdoors on the court house steps.
The Planners all showed up before the scheduled start at 7:30 but chances for conducting any business appeared mighty slim after a half-hour hassle with the court house door. First Newbill Miller and then Pete Luke tried the lock but for all their rattling, pushing, pulling, huffing and puffing, the door stayed shut.
