Goldcup Broadcasting Inc. is preparing to get its new radio station WQRA-FM on the air here soon.
The company’s new building to house radio broadcasting equipment is nearing completion at its site 1.4 miles south of Warrenton at the junction of Rt. 29. and Rt. 744 (Lover’s Lane).
“We’re still looking at a fall air date,’’ Goldcup president James K. Edmundson, a Washington attorney, said last week. “We’re trying to get on the air as soon as possible.’’
WQRA will broadcast “middle of the road” music aimed at “the 21 plus adult" audience. The station will operate approximately 18 hours a day Monday through Sunday, broadcasting over a frequency of 94.3 FM, or channel 232, at a transmitting power of 3000 watts.
Goldcup has hired Keith Angstat, now director of operations and chief engineer for WFVA-AM and FM in Fredericksburg, as general manager for WQRA.
Angstat, 34, has worked for the Middle Atlantic Network, which owns the Fredericksburg station and several others, for five years. He also has been general manager for a television ' station and has worked for '■■■ radio station WFLS in Fredericksburg.
