Democrat Lew Fickett | commended U.S. Senator Harry F. Byrd’s Wote against the controversial Kemp-Roth tax proposal, which was cosponsored in the House by Fauquier’s Rep. J. Kenneth Robinson.Republican

Robinson, the incumbent congressman for the Seventh District, is being challenged by Fickett, a member of Virginia’s General Assembly from Fredericksburg, in the election Nov. 7.

“I’m glad Senator Byrd had the courage to vote against another tax gimmick which would have hurt the average taxpayer by fueling the fires of inflation,” said Fickett. Last week Senator Byrd voted against the Kemp-Roth plan from his seat on the Senate Finance Committee.
